Beval Gearboxes
What is a Right Angled Bevel Gearbox?
Right Angle Bevel gearboxes have the drive shaft and output shaft arranged at 90 degrees, this single rotating drive shaft can operate at a right angle or distribute into two or three output shafts.
Mecvel offer six different sizes from 4Nm up to 65Nm in 2 and 3 way configurations. Bevel gearboxes with 1:1 ratios are used in multiple screw jack systems for the synchronisation of the jacks.
What information is needed to select a right angle bevel gearbox?
- a) Input Power
- b) Input speed
- c) Target output speed
- d)Target output Torque
- e)Type of Load
- f) Duty Factor
- g)Mounting configuration
Important factors to consider when sizing right angle bevel gearboxes:
- They are designed for input speeds up to 1400rpm although they can run up to 3000 rpm but only for short periods.
- Loadings , especially offset and shock loads.
- Installation - special care to minimise misalignment
- Low Temperature - special grease can be supplied for temp. below -20C
- Choosing the correct gearbox size will prevent premature failure.
